About the Role

The Council is seeking a Deputy General Manager with the desire and ability to further their experience in local government.  This role offers a development pathway to a future career as a General Manager.

You will have a strong senior management background, desirably in Local Government, with extensive exposure to community services and operations. You have the ability to quickly assess and understand political and social issues and able to recognise emerging issues and future challenges facing Derwent Valley Council.

Your excellent communication skills and appreciation of political sensitivities help you to quickly build credibility and confidence at all levels, including the Mayor, Elected Members, Senior Management and staff, as well as key external stakeholders

We are seeking a Deputy General Manager who can:

• Demonstrate high level strategic leadership skills and vision
• Inspire others, influences and leads innovation to achieve community outcomes
• Focus on organisational performance, culture and customer service
• Balance the needs of the community within business and council requirements
• Deliver expertise in governance, finance and develop integrated business systems
• Be a relationship maker who can transform strategic concepts into practical outcomes.
