Reporting directly to the General Manager City Performance, this challenging and rewarding opportunity will suit a technically strong Manager Finance. Along with complete responsibility over key deliverables such as the annual budget, forecasts, statutory and financial statements and long term financial strategy the Manager Finance will also lead a team and drive building a constructive team based culture with a focus on customer service.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, managing, motivating, mentoring and developing the Finance Team, ensuring that it is focussed on organisational objectives;
  • Providing strategic leadership and advice relating to financial management throughout the organisation including Elected Members; and
  • Develop performance indicators and quality assurances processes and ensure internal and external audit recommendations are implemented within agreed timeframes.

Do you have what it takes to succeed in this role?

  • Degree in accounting or business together with full membership of a recognised professional body of accountants;
  • Minimum five years' experience in a senior financial management position;
  • Excellent people management and leadership skills, including the ability to build effective working relationships both internally and externally, encourage collaboration, teamwork and partnerships striving for excellent in achieving the Council's vision and values; and
  • Thorough and up to date understanding of accounting principles, Australian Accounting Standards and current accounting trends.
