We have an exciting opportunity for Manager International Business Relations to leverage the strategic position of Darwin close to South East Asian Countries, especially China, which is the first trade partner to Australia, the City of Darwin will further support and secure sustainable the economic relationship with China and South East Asia Countries.

An exciting opportunity to plan, develop and implement the City's International Economic Development Program/Activities by attracting, retaining and expanding International Business/Investment.

Able to enthusiastically embrace change, you will build and maintain the partnership between the City of Darwin with China governments and businesses and be able to transfer the partnership into practical business opportunities to benefit the City of Darwin and local community through effective communication and planning.

You will be a highly motivated person with significant experience in the areas of economic development and tourism. With a proven track record in setting clear and specific goals, objectives and strategies to a standard of excellence, combined with the monitoring and review of staff performance, taking appropriate corrective and supporting actions so as to implement best practice targets. You'll have a sound understanding of international relations issues as applied to local government.

You'll have a good understanding and/or ability to interpret the NT Local Government Act Regulations, City of Darwin By Laws and other legislation to which the Council responds. Your through knowledge of Property Contract Law and Legislation as well as Sound financial & non-financial management ability. Your ability to interpret Chinese Laws or policies which puts the Council in a strong bargaining position.

A self-confident individual with a strong belief in own skills, capabilities and judgements and the ability to respond to events in a thoughtful and deliberative manner. Your relevant tertiary qualification will also set you in good stead for this opportunity.
