About the role and you:
Are you looking for an organisation which values team work and technical excellence? Are you an accomplished and passionate engineer/scientist with demonstrated skills and experience in Road Safety, Traffic Management and/or Road Design. Strong project management skills are also a key requirement. If you are looking for the next step in your career development, ARRB has a perfect role for you. We currently seek 2 to 3 Road Safety and Traffic Engineers or Scientists to be placed in either our Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne offices with relevant experience from 3 years up to 7+ years.

Through actively participating within the ARRB team opportunities to submit and present conference papers also present themselves. In these key positions you will deliver applied research, consulting and training to Australasian road authorities and other national and international customers. You will be part of the Transport Safety team.

In this position you will:
  • Provide innovative and practical solutions to meet customer requirements
  • Develop effective working relationships with key local government, state government and other related clients
  • Help our customers by delivering technical research and consulting projects that meet their needs
  • Identify and follow up work opportunities through contacts and technical knowledge
  • Work collaboratively with your interstate colleagues to ensure a national focus
We seek an individual who has:
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (civil engineering, transport engineering, safety engineering, traffic or road design engineer or behavioural science degree or other relevant degree)
  • A minimum of 3 and up to 7+ years relevant experience in road safety engineering, traffic engineering, road design, behavioural science in road safety, road user behaviour, human factors or combinations of 2 or more of the above
  • Well-developed project management skills
  • Well-developed research, analytical and technical skills
  • Proven experience in playing a role as technical lead in large projects
  • Strong customer focus with excellent and confident negotiation skills
Highly desirable skills
  • Experience in drafting technical reports
  • Polished presentation skills
  • Experience and/or qualifications in road safety auditing and crash site investigations
  • Experience undertaking research, developing unique methodologies to investigate and solve problems
