Executive Director Development Services

This key executive position will be responsible for the effective leadership and management of the Development Services Directorate, managing a multi-disciplinary team with overall responsibility for the key functions of Planning, Building, Environmental Health, Community safety – Rangers and Fire, Engineering and Executive Support.

A crucial component of this role is the need to understand the City of Albany’s values and consistently act to them. The Executive Director of Development Services will need to inspire trust and be a transformational leader who is proactive and displays behaviours that align to our values.

The City will consider a contract of up to a 5 year term for this role. As it is a senior designated role the appointment is to be approved by council.

OBJECTIVES

This position is responsible for working in a leadership role within the City of Albany to: 

• Manage the strategic development of urban design and land use planning.
• Manage and oversee the day to day operations of the Planning and Developmental Services directorate.
• Manage and oversee the development and implementation of the City’s emergency management arrangements.
• Ensure the Local Government’s development approvals, policies, procedures, records management and education/compliance services are maintained to a high standard.
