Principal Building Surveyor

We have recently undergone a restructure and an exciting new position is available in our Engineering and Development Services team for a suitably motivated and customer focused Building Surveyor. Reporting to the Manager of Building and Health Services this is an integral role operating relatively autonomously in undertaking duties and delegations associated with the building surveyor portfolio. The core functions of this role are to undertake assessment, processing and approval of building and development applications, and provision of advice to the public, complying with relevant legislation and Council Policy.   

To be considered for this role you will be a Level 2 registered Building Surveyor and have demonstrated knowledge of building regulatory framework, the Building code of Australia and general planning requirements. You will also need a strong customer focus and sound report and letter writing experience. A desire for process improvements and high aptitude for general computer use including programs such as Microsoft office and electronic management systems is required. Knowledge of WA regulatory building and planning frameworks, previous compliance experience, electronic application assessment competencies and relevant local government work experience would be advantageous.

Your commitment to the team will be rewarded with a negotiated salary, circa $80K per annum dependent on experience, up to 14% superannuation and restricted private use of a vehicle.
