The department provides relevant scientific knowledge through our monitoring and investigative services to the Council spanning land quality and terrestrial ecosystems, air quality and climate, surface water, groundwater and the coast, including associated ecosystems.

The Team Leader, Aquatic Ecosystems & Quality is responsible for leading a team of scientists and monitoring officers who are working closely with the Council, whaitua http://www.gw.govt.nz/whaitua-committees/, external research providers, stakeholders and mana whenua to provide high quality scientific expertise and advice that informs the sustainable management of the Wellington region’s freshwater and coastal ecosystems.
The Team Leader, Aquatic Ecosystems & Quality will be a people manager with leadership passion and experience. They will use their knowledge of freshwater and/or coastal science to provide mentoring and direction to the team. They will oversee the team’s delivery of relevant, timely and well communicated science across the organisation and to our stakeholders, communities and mana whenua
The Team Leader will also play a strategic role as a member of the Environmental Science leadership team, with four other team leaders and the science manager. This includes strategic leadership of the department, people leadership, and active engagement internally and externally to provide quality science services.
