Job Description

The Development Assessment and Compliance Team requires a Planning Officer to provide best practice and professional statutory urban and regional planning, urban design advice and services and development compliance. Ideally the candidate will have tertiary Urban and Regional Planning qualifications with considerable relevant industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring, preparation and/or review of strategic, corporate, organisational, technical and statutory documents of the Local Planning Policy Framework.
  • Report preparation and submissions to the Council as well as, the Joint South West Development Assessment Panel (SWJDAP).
  • Attend Council briefings and ordinary meetings and SWJDAP meetings.
  • Preparation or assistance with witness statements and evidence in the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT) or a court of law.
  • Customer service excellence and community and stakeholder engagement.
  • Implement and support continuous improvements to systems, processes and practices.

Additional preferred skills

  • Project management
  • Effective written and verbal communication and negotiation skills
  • GIS and/or CAD software experience

What we offer

Conditions of employment are in accordance with the City of Bunbury 2012 Enterprise Agreement with a level 5 to level 6 salary range of $64,605 to $74,073 gross per annum depending on experience and qualifications. Permanent, full time appointment.
