The City of Bunbury's Strategic Planning and Urban Design Team is seeking to recruit a talented and motivated full time Strategic Planning Officer. As a strategic planner working in Western Australia's second city you will provide professional advice and services on a wide range of urban and regional planning matters - including urban design, sustainability, economic development and infrastructure provision. Our ideal candidate will have postgraduate town planning and urban design qualifications, accompanied by a portfolio of relevant and competitive industry experience.

Responsibilities of this role include:

• Preparing and reviewing strategic, corporate, technical and statutory documents of the Local Planning Framework.
• Providing professional strategic planning and urban design advice and services to Council, stakeholders and clients.
• Supporting the assessment and approval of major projects and development proposals
• Conducting community engagement initiatives and customer service management.
• Undertaking project management of planning and urban design investigations.
• Implementing continuous improvements to business systems, processes and practices.

The key skills required for this role include:

• Knowledge and experience in best practice urban and regional planning, including local, state and federal legislation and policy reform
• Project management knowledge, skills and experience.
• Advanced research, analysis, communication and presentation skills.
• Experience with Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and/or Computer Aided Drawing (CAD) programs.
• Team work oriented with the ability to work independently.

What we offer:

Conditions of employment are in accordance with the City of Bunbury Employee's 2018 Enterprise Agreement with a level 5 to level 6 salary range of $72,949 to $80,965 gross depending on experience and qualifications

• Permanent, full time.
• 9.5% super, matched super contribution of up to 5%.
