The Role

The role of Asset Strategist - Open Space & Buildings comprises a unique mix of natural and outdoor asset management, stakeholder consultation, and strategic planning, to ensure best value service provision for the community.

Your role will be to:

  • Undertake the strategic planning of Council's open spaces, natural and building environment assets

  • Conduct investigations, analysis, planning and identification of capital works projects for the long term financial sustainability of Council's natural and outdoor assets, in line with community expectations and service requirements

  • Actively work on improving Council's asset management practices to minimise risk and improve value from service provision

  • Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders to effectively strategise and plan for the future of the Council's open spaces, natural and built environment assets.

About You

You will bring a deep understanding of natural and/or build environment assets, coupled with commercial accumen, and an understanding of the economic and social objectives of effective asset management. You possess a tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Engineering, Urban Planning, or equivalent, or in Business and strategy and can utilise your strategic planning nous to drive results for the community. You possess a minimum of 5+ years of experience in a similar role and understand strategic planning, risk assessment, asset management, and capital works planning for natural assets. You are able to manoeuvre in a political environment and are a stickler for financial planning and budgeting across your discipline.

You are highly driven, motivated and enjoy working with multiple stakeholders, including the greater community. Your communication skills are exemplary, as are your report writing and verbal communication skills. You are consultative, decisive, and a leader in your field. Additionally, you will also be able to work confidently across the entire MS Office Suite.
