Municipal Building Surveyor

Our Building Services team is looking for a qualified and experienced Building Surveyor to lead an enthusiastic Building team and playing a leading role in ensuring that Council adheres to all relevant Building legislation.

Your role will be to assist the development of a culture of quality, industry best practice and customer focus across the building services area, as well as the ability of developing, reviewing and streamlining systems and processes to ensure flexible and responsive service delivery. Experience in issuing building and occupancy permits, undertaking essential safety measures inspections and issuing certificates in accordance with relevant Acts and Regulations and Council policies and Local Laws is required. Experience in the issue of Notices and Orders as required including the investigation and prosecution of breaches of orders and relevant Acts and Regulations is also essential.

You will have a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline with several years of demonstrated and successful experience in a building surveying role in an urban environment, particularly essential safety measures. In addition, your qualifications and experience will ideally be supported by membership of the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors and you will be a Registered Building Practitioner in the category class of Building Surveyor unlimited in Victoria. Your ability to liaise with and resolve issues with residents is essential.
