The opportunity

The Chief Executive Officer has an exciting permanent full time opportunity for an experienced and suitably qualified professional.

This new role of Executive Officer to the CEO will provide strategic executive and administrative support to the Chief Executive Officer and be responsible for the coordination of the day to day activities of the office of the Chief Executive Officer.

Key responsibilities:

  • Full schedule management for the CEO, exercising judgment about access and time.
  • A broad variety of administrative tasks and governance processes including the preparation and coordination of correspondence, emails, reports, agendas and briefing papers.
  • Support for budget preparation, monitoring and reporting of expenditure for the Office of the CEO.
  • Researching, prioritising and following up on incoming correspondence, issues and concerns for the CEO and Councillors including those of a sensitive or confidential nature and determining an appropriate course of action, referral, or response.
  • Preparation of correspondence, submissions, briefing notes and talking points for internal and external audiences and forums.
  • Providing a bridge for smooth communication between the CEO, Councillors and internal departments; demonstrating leadership to maintain credibility, trust and support with senior management staff

About you:

  • The ideal candidate for this role will be able to work independently, under pressure as well as deal with confidential matters with discretion.
  • You will possess tertiary qualifications in Business Administration or other relevant discipline and demonstrated relevant experience; or extensive experience and management expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • In addition to substantial knowledge of and experience in providing dedicated high-level professional advisory, research and executive administrative support to a Chief Executive Officer, Mayor or similar executive level position you will also have highly developed communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to effectively manage complex and sensitive situations and provide excellent customer service both within and outside the organisation.
  • Your proven ability to manage a dynamic workload with competing priorities, strong interpersonal skills and a personal style that models integrity, equity, fairness and transparency will see you succeed in this role.
