Planning Enforcement Officer 

On behalf of a government body based in the Inner suburbs, we are looking for an experienced Planning Enforcement Officer with a strong background in Local Government.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service and taking appropriate action to any requests
  • Investigations in relation to planning investigation, enforcement and compliance as required by the Planning and Environment Act 1987
  • Investigate planning complaints and inspect council properties to ensure they are compliant with planning permit legislation
  • Gather any information regarding enforcement matters and ensuring details records are written and uploaded to the council’s system
  • Carry out site investigations to make sure compliant
  • Responsible for providing accurate advice and preparing timely reports on liquor licensing, environmental audits and Section 173 Agreements
  • Formulate reports and correspondence when needed
  • High standard of record keeping of enforcement files  

To be successful in this role you must:

  • Have a tertiary qualification in Planning or proven experience in an enforcement role
  • Have Government experience, preferably Local Government
  • Be able to deal with conflict in an effective and calm manner
  • Have excellent, detailed and accurate note taking skills
  • Be self-motivated, fair and work autonomously
  • Have great communication skills and the ability to communicate with a wide range of backgrounds
  • Have a Victorian drivers licence
