What you need to know...

  • temporary full time - 70 hours per fortnight
  • salary - $686.10 - $1020.40 per week, plus superannuation
  • a 9 day fortnight
  • location - Grafton/Maclean
  • full payment of course fees and other associated costs
  • access to study leave

About the role

We’re looking for a highly motivated individual to join our busy dynamic team. You’ll be able to live and work in the Clarence Valley where we have a work/life balance that is exactly as it should be – balanced.

If you want  to become part of our team and gain invaluable experience in statutory and strategic planning and want to assist us in shaping our towns and regions by managing development, infrastructure and services Clarence Valley Council wants to hear from you.

As a Trainee Town Planner you will:

  • Assist in the assessment and approval of development and activity applications under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and Local Government Act 1993.
  • Gain invaluable knowledge in strategic and statutory town planning.
  • Provide administrative support to professional staff.

Acquire the skills, knowledge, experience and qualifications necessary to join the town planning profession.

Other important information

This position is located at Council's Grafton or Maclean office, however, this may change should business needs identify other work locations to be more appropriate to deliver our services in the future.

Following the period of traineeship, the trainee may be considered for the permanent position of Development Assessment Planner, subject to meeting the required eligibility criteria.

A probation period applies to this position.
