City, Coast & Country…Wyndham has it all!

Do you consider yourself to be a progressive, forward thinking and a resilient Town Planner? If so, Wyndham City Council is the place
for you.

Only 35 minutes from Melbourne CBD, Wyndham is one of the fastest growing Municipalities in Australia (forecasted to be larger than Canberra by 2040!!). That’s going to mean a lot of varied, challenging and interesting planning applications!

At Wyndham we can offer you a caseload of planning applications that very few other Councils can offer, along with excellent opportunities for professional development and growth.

This role offers an excellent introduction into leadership and management responsibilities as you will provide direct support to the Coordinator on a range of matters including the allocation of work, signing off of permits and amendments and providing guidance and mentoring to Senior Planners and Planning Officers.

You will be dealing with applications within multiple Precinct Structure Plan areas for large scale residential and mixed use subdivisions (1000 plus lots) and new Town Centres.

However, it’s not all greenfield planning as within our established area you will be responsible for:

-  Large scale infill development proposals and the application of our newly adopted Housing & Neighbourhood Character Strategy;

-  High density mixed use development proposals within the newly gazetted Werribee Activity Centre Zone to establish Werribee as the new Capital of the West;

-  A variety of jobs creating new industrial and commercial developments to serve the new population; and

-  Assessing proposals within rural areas such as Werribee South (Melbourne’s ‘vegetable bowl’) and Wyndham Harbour.

In addition, you will be expected to provide guidance to planners within your team, while contributing positively to a friendly office culture.  You must also possess a strong desire to identify, lead and drive process improvements to increase the efficiency of the Town Planning Department and the service provided to our customers.

Did we mention we also offer fortnightly RDOs?

You will have a tertiary qualification in Town Planning or another related discipline along with excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated ability to problem solve and have extensive statutory planning experience. Local government experience would be advantageous.

All applicants must address the Key Selection Criteria outlined in the online questionnaire.

For further enquiries please contact: Margret Evans, Coordinator Town Planning on (03) 9742 8152

Applications close: Sunday 26 June 2016

Only people with the relevant right to work permanently in Australia may apply.
