 WATER OPERATOR-PLUMBER

Located in the northern rivers area of NSW, Rous County Council is a special-purpose local government organisation that delivers bulk water and provides flood mitigation and weed biosecurity services.

The position

To undertake field activities to operate, maintain and report on the water distribution and reticulation assets to achieve Rous County Council’s levels of service.

This role also requires the delivery of the backflow program by implementing a cross connection survey, identifying various hazard ratings, liaising with customers and installing and testing backflow prevention devices.

NOTE:   This position will require the successful applicant being included on a fortnightly on-call roster for after-hours duties, or as otherwise directed

Qualifications and experience

The role requires knowledge of water industry operations together with demonstrated experience as a trade qualified Plumber with a contractor licence. Completion of accredited training in backflow prevention and demonstrated experience is essential.

The successful applicant will provide demonstrated experience in a customer service role and be capable of utilising the Microsoft suite of products.

Previous experience working in an after-hours on-call environment and understanding of local government processes is desirable.

Conditions of employment

Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Local Government State Award 2017. Salary range $60,503 - $70,772 per annum based on skills and experience plus statutory superannuation (9.5%) and generous working conditions including a 76 hour, nine-day fortnight.  A satisfactory health assessment, including drug screening is a pre-requisite to an offer of employment.
