Located in the northern rivers area of NSW, Rous County Council is a special-purpose local government organisation that delivers bulk water and provides flood mitigation and weed biosecurity services.

The position

To coordinate and lead the delivery of work health safety, governance, risk management and compliance and provide ongoing support and technical advice to support performance improvement through a culture of continuous improvement and capability.

Qualifications and experience

The position requires relevant bachelor level qualification in business, law, risk management or related field supported by 3-5 years in a similar role.

Essential requirements for this role include demonstrated experience in leading and delivering continuous improvement outcomes across WHS, risk management and governance combined with excellent people, stakeholder engagement and project management skills.

The successful candidate will demonstrate sound knowledge and understanding of the WHS Act 2011 and experience in the development and implementation of WHS Management Systems.

You must also be committed to promoting Council’s Values of Safety, Teamwork, Accountability and Respect.

Conditions of employment

Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Local Government State Award 2017. Salary range $86,850.40-$101,592.40 per annum based on skills and experience plus statutory superannuation (9.5%) and generous working conditions including a 70 hour, nine-day fortnight.  A satisfactory health assessment, including drug screening and a criminal background check is a pre-requisite to an offer of employment.
