Salary is up to $101,469 pa + super

Pittwater Council is located on the northern beaches of Sydney renowned for its natural environment.

This senior role in the Urban Infrastructure Business Unit is responsible for the planning and project management of Council’s annual Capital Improvement Projects (CIPs) for the construction of Urban Infrastructure Works (Roads, Stormwater Drainage, Civil Engineering) within the Council area.

 The position is to provide engineering project and contract management within the Works Unit of the Urban Infrastructure Business Unit, as well as sound advice on engineering and emergency matters.

Essential:

• Extensive relevant professional skills, relevant tertiary qualifications (University degree) in Civil Engineering.
• Experience in design and construction of civil infrastructure.
• Experience in road construction and programmed maintenance.
• Demonstrated extensive project and contract management skills including estimating and tender/ contract documents preparation.
• Experience in managing civil and specialised contractors.
• Demonstrated experience in preparing and managing budgets.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation.
• Ability to effectively manage a workload involving a number of projects/tasks with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated management capabilities and team leadership.
• Demonstrated high quality report writing skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to ethics, probity and transparency in decision making.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills.
• Understanding of continuous learning principals, equal employment opportunities, occupational health and safety and ethical practice principals.
• Extensive knowledge in computer software including project management tools.
• Class C Drivers Licence.
• Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels both within Council and externally.

Desirable:

• At least 7 years experience in Civil Engineering construction and/or design
• Previous experience in working in politically sensitive environments relating to Local Government
