About the Opportunity

  • Permanent full time position 
  • Provide supervision and the day to day operation of the Natural Areas Team 
  • Maintenance of Council's public parks and reserves 
  • Focus on the delivery of bush regeneration and environmental projects coordinated by the team.

We want a highly motivated, appropriately experienced and qualified Supervisor to join the Natural Areas Team. This new position was created to manage the rapidly expanding Natural Areas portfolio with numerous natural assets to maintain, including bushland, wetlands, bio retention systems and councils plant nursery. Opportunities exist for the right person to help shape the future of Council’s Natural Areas network.

You will be responsible for providing effective supervision of staff, monitoring staff performance, and suggesting and implementing improvements to operations. You must have sound knowledge of bush regeneration and horticultural skills, strong leadership qualities and have an ability to train and develop other staff members in reaching set goals.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Tertiary or related qualification in fields such as Bush Regeneration, Conservation and Land Management, Horticultural Science, Natural Resource Management or Environmental Science 
  • Experience with the supervision and management of staff and contractors
  • Demonstrated volunteer coordination and management skills
  • Class C Driver’s Licence
  • Pesticide application accreditation (AQF 3/ Chencert/ Smarttrain).


Desirable:

  • Demonstrated experience working with Bushcare groups. 
  • Demonstrated experience in administering and reporting on environmental grants. 
  • Experience managing budgets and projects 
  • Ability to interpret legislation and policy. 
  • First Aid accreditation

Remuneration and Benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • A competitive salary range of $1,423.30 - $1,594.00 (Grade 12) per week will be offered based on qualifications and experience
  • 38 hour working week 
  • Leaseback Vehicle
  • Rostered day off (RDO) each fortnight
