Riverside Theatres is the heart and soul of arts & culture in Western Sydney and for more than 30 years has attracted some of the world’s best artists, nurtured local talent and showcased the diverse and vibrant stories of Sydney’s Central City.

Riverside Theatres, owned and operated by City of Parramatta Council, draws more than 180,000 patrons to up to 1,000 performances and events every year. It is home to the National Theatre of Parramatta, which cultivates Western Sydney’s next generation of artists, performers and creators and FORM Dance Projects, a presenter of independent contemporary dance. Riverside also offers an extensive educational program for young people and people with disability.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced marketing and communications professional to join City of Parramatta Council’s Marketing & Communication’s leadership team as Team Leader for Riverside Theatres to lead a team of professionals to:

  • Market the Riverside Theatres Annual Program and Performance Season and other performance activities including the education, music and comedy programs.
  • Market the Riverside for venue hire to touring producers, promoters and arts companies.
  • Manage and execute marketing, promotion and communication strategy, campaigns and ticket sales initiatives for Riverside Theatres to increase the positive profile of the venue, enhance community engagement and drive ticket sales and Box Office revenue.
  • Maintain and promote Riverside Theatres’ reputation as a centre of excellence in performing arts, events and exhibitions in the Western Sydney region.
  • Work closely with the Riverside Director and leadership team to contribute to maintaining positive relationship with hirers, performing companies, promoters, artists, stakeholders and audiences.

About the role
The Riverside Theatres Marketing & Communications Team Leader is responsible for creating and managing data-driven tactical and operational marketing, communications, promotions and branding initiatives with internal and external stakeholders to achieve strategic marketing and commercial objectives. This position is responsible for managing marketing and communications activity that supports Riverside Theatres to deliver on its operational plan and commercial objectives; and influence positive outcomes for Riverside Theatres across a variety of topics that may impact upon the perception and positioning of Riverside Theatres as well as show visitation.

About you
You have at least 7 years’ experience in marketing and communications in the cultural and arts sector strongly preferred. You will have expertise in strategic marketing, media buying and advertising, digital marketing, database management, communications, promotions and public relations. You have at least 2 years’ demonstrated experience in leading diverse, multidisciplinary teams and delivering services to a high standard to meet financial and other business performance criteria. You are a highly driven, proactive and motivated individual with exceptional project management and communications skills and experience to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines. You have excellent interpersonal skills with experience managing internal and external stakeholder relationships. You are data-driven and have a digital first mindset, with significant experience in managing campaign activity in the digital space, and have demonstrated ability to understand and leverage insights and trends to inform stakeholders and influence future planning.

What’s on offer?
We are offering an attractive salary from $114,209.52 p.a. plus Superannuation. City of Parramatta also offer excellent employee benefits which can be accessed by the successful candidate.
