Senior Traffic Engineer 

Limited term up to 30 June 2018

Salary from $83,337 up to $101,133 per annum

plus superannuation and 3.5% Civil Liability Allowance

Do you have experience managing traffic and undertaking traffic & transport studies? 

Traffic + Transport Planning Unit are seeking a qualified and experienced Traffic Engineer to join their small professional and dynamic team.  You will be responsible for assessing Development Proposals, prepare Traffic Management Plans, as well as undertake Traffic and Transport Studies and Road Safety projects.  You will also use your strong communication skills to consult and negotiate with Community Groups, State Government Agencies, Public Transport providers and Developers.

Essential Selection Criteria:

  1. Completed a degree in Civil Engineering.
  2. Proven ability to use relevant technology in the workplace, including Traffic Engineering software (eg: TRACKS, SIDRA, PARAMICS or AIMSUN) and MS Office software packages.
  3. Demonstrated experience in traffic and development matters.
  4. Proven ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with a diverse range of customers, including Councillors, colleagues in statutory authorities, developers and the general public.
  5. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities to meet strict deadlines and deliver identified outcomes.
  6. Demonstrated ability to develop practical and innovate solutions to traffic and land development problems.
  7. Demonstrated project management skills.
  8. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment as well as be an effective team member.
  9. Demonstrated understanding of Work Health and Safety principles.
  10. Possess a current Class C driver's licence.

Desirable Selection Criteria

  1. Desirably possess Post Graduate Qualifications in Traffic/Transport Planning or undertaking further studies in these fields.
  2. Possess an understanding of Local Government traffic and development procedures.
