Practice Leader

This role presents a fantastic opportunity for an experienced senior manager with a background in research and consulting to join this driven and dynamic team at the UTS Institute for Public Policy and Governance.

As Practice Leader, you will be responsible for leadership of externally funded consultancy activities in social research and evaluations for the Institute for Public Policy and Governance. This will include responsibility for management of a team of 10 Senior Research and Research Officers. You will have three direct reports - the Managers of local government, social research and evaluation and social planning practice branches.

You will work directly with the Director to support delivery of externally funded social research and consultancy against targets, to inform strategic direction and to drive practice improvement.

 About the Institute

 The Institute for Public Policy and Governance (IPPG) at the University of Technology Sydney is comprised of a leading group of researchers and practitioners in the areas of public administration and policy, social research, evaluations, stakeholder engagement, and leadership.

 We undertake research and evaluation for a wide range of public, non-profit and for-profit organisations; and provide graduate education and professional development training.

The IPPG team works closely with and maintains extensive professional networks within the university and with governments; industry; not-for-profit and community-based organisations across Australia and internationally.

About You

With demonstrated leadership at a senior level in contemporary public policy/corporate governance sector or related environment you will have commercial consulting experience, including the delivery and contracting of projects and demonstrated overall effective management of resources. You will see yourself as the type of individual who can work effectively as a member of a senior executive team with the political nous to navigate a varied stakeholder landscape.

With proven ability in leading multi-disciplinary teams, working in a complex service environment and demonstrated experience in business development and improvement, you will be able to work successfully in partnership with business and industry, government and the community.

Remuneration & Benefits

Base Salary Range: An attractive and competitive salary package will be negotiated with the appointee. (SSG1)

This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a fixed termbasis for 3 years.
