Council is seeking applicants for the Parental Leave replacement of Council’s Procurement Officer for a period of up to 12 months. This is a re-advertised position and previous applicants need not re-apply.

About the role

The Procurement Officer has a primary focus on supporting Council officers to undertake procurement activities in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and guidelines. The position holder will work within the purchasing, procurement and contracting systems; providing relevant support and training to all Council staff in the use of the purchasing, procurement and contracting systems, providing relevant support and training to all Council staff in the use of the purchasing and procurement systems and processes.

Salary for this position is based on skills, experience and qualifications and will range from $1,039.29pw to $1,205.58pw +super.

About You

As the successful applicant you will have strong administrative, procurement/contracts experience, well developed analytical and problem solving skills, excellent communication skills and working knowledge of Finance One. It is desirable that you have a working knowledge of supply chain management software.

You will be a self-motivated team player, who can demonstrate a çan do’ approach and enjoys a challenge.

In addition to holding the relevant qualifications and being a team player you will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Ability to interpret and apply legislation (Local Government Act 1993) relating to procurement and tendering

  • Knowledge of government procurement, tendering policies and contract management

  • Experience in the use of spreadsheets and financial software

  • Excellent customer service and communication (verbal and written) skills

  • Good analytical and problem solving skills.
