How this position Makes the Difference to City of Melbourne… The Enforcement Officer is responsible for the provision of effective, responsive, planning investigations and enforcement services within the city. As part of a small team, this position is required to provide both technical and general planning investigation and enforcement advice to both internal and external customers.
You will be a role model in providing excellence in customer service and will champion a high standard of service and actively look for ways to improve processes.
We are seeking an individual who has demonstrated experience in a similar type of role, who can communicate, negotiate and influence with success, and can use lateral thinking in situations where the obvious approach may not produce the best outcome.
This would be a great opportunity if you enjoy inspecting properties, investigating, educating and raising awareness on Melbourne’s Planning Scheme and the Planning and Environment Act 1987 to our community.
Please note flexibility may be required of this position to work outside the normal spread of hours.
You can bring… (Selection criteria)
- Ability to demonstrate and display City of Melbourne Values – accountability, integrity, courage, respect for self and others, and striving for excellence
- Experience in an enforcement area, including practical knowledge of development control requirements
- Good technical knowledge of enforcement procedures under the Planning and Environment Act 1987 and Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal Act 1998
- Pro-active approach to problem resolution and the ability to participate in meetings of parties to resolve disputes
- Ability to work as an effective team member within a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to develop and maintain effective linkages within Council and a wide range of agencies and individuals.
