A bit about the role
Reporting to the Principal Project Manager and operating as a senior member of the team, Senior Project Manager – Buildings is responsible for managing the implementation of approved complex building projects within the Capital Works program from concept through to delivery phase on time, on budget and quality within the project briefs.
This is a great opportunity for a high performing individual with a strong background in project management and a proven track record in delivering key building projects to join a dynamic and motivated team, to add positive impact to a growing city by driving project execution to an exceptional standard.
What you’ll deliver
- End to end project management of Council Works Building Projects
- Management of community and stakeholder engagement processes
- Guidance and leadership to external contractors and consultants
- Effective stakeholder management including regular milestone updates to project control groups
- Collaboration with the project management and design teams to progress projects through Council’s framework to achieve objectives and reach completion
- A proactive focus to mentor and guide project managers
- An opportunity to step into the Managers role when required.
What you’ll bring
- Strong experience in managing multimillion-dollar and complex projects
- Advanced knowledge of project management practice
- Confident communication skills with the ability to positively influence and negotiate good outcomes
- Advanced knowledge of design and documentation processes.
- Experience managing teams of external consultants and contractors
- The ability to concurrently manage multiple projects on time, to budget and to client satisfaction within a structured reporting framework
- A track record in lateral thinking and creative problem solving skills
- Ability to present information in front of executive committees and Councillors in a clear and concise manner
- A positive, proactive and curious mind.
Bonus points if you have…
- Experience and an understanding of local government or the public sector
- Previously managed community consultation and engagement processes
- An understanding and history of managing authority approvals.
