How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne…
City of Melbourne’s State Infrastructure Branch is responsible for the coordination of major State Infrastructure Projects in partnership with the State of Victoria, including the North Melbourne, West Melbourne and Docklands Transport and Amenity Program (TAP). The TAP is a suite of public realm and streetscape projects that will deliver environmental amenity improvements, transport infrastructure upgrades and high quality urban design outcomes that meet the City of Melbourne’s strategic vision for these rapidly transforming inner suburbs.
Supporting the Program Manager and Director State Infrastructure, you will focus primarily on planning and delivery of a range of projects under the TAP. You will work collaboratively across City of Melbourne and State Government departments to progress complex and multi-disciplinary projects, fostering an atmosphere of responsiveness, accountability and corporate commitment.
Coordinating relevant project participants, including external consultants and contractors, you will ensure expectations are understood and agreed. Furthermore you will ensure the program is maintained, key milestones are met, project variations are documented and agreed at the appropriate levels and delivery targets are achieved.
Our ideal candidate will have strong project and program management experience with a background of construction and/or design management of public realm projects. You will have a demonstrated ability to assimilate a broad range of information, and self-manage priorities and tasks within a high volume environment with competing deadlines.

•Ability to demonstrate and display City of Melbourne Values – accountability, integrity, courage, respect for self and others, and striving for excellence.
•A relevant tertiary qualification to degree level in project management and/or related fields such as planning, urban design, landscape architecture or engineering experience that are equivalent.
•Demonstrated ability to plan and manage complex projects and tasks, and to implement projects on time and to budget.
•Highly developed analytical and lateral thinking skills and the ability to take initiative, drive change and implement innovation.
•A demonstrated understanding of financial management processes within a local government context.
•Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to use discretion and judgement in a complex business and political environment.
•Excellent oral, written and visual communication skills, and computer literacy in word processing and other standard office software.
