How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne…
As the Aboriginal Health and Homelessness Co-ordinator, you will identify, develop and implement culturally appropriate best-practice, or evidence based models that complement and strengthen mainstream and Aboriginal health and homeless service delivery to Aboriginal people experiencing primary or secondary homelessness within inner Melbourne.
Engagement with Aboriginal people sleeping rough is an essential component of this role, along with the ability to bring key stakeholders together to strategically and successfully meet the needs of this vulnerable group. Creative, novel and effective service models including homelessness, the recognition and inclusion of the social determinants of health and wellbeing, assertive outreach and specialised referrals, will need to be developed in consultation with all stakeholders including end-users.
Furthermore, you will develop and implement an appropriate evaluation and impact framework that measures the success of the strategies, interventions and support provided to Aboriginal people experiencing homelessness.
Developing collaborative and trusting partnerships with a vast range of stakeholders, both internal and external to the organisation, including Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal peoples and groups (including health and homelessness service providers), government departments, mainstream service providers and senior bureaucrats will be crucial to your success.
