Searson Buck are proud to partner with Tasmanian Irrigation in their search for a Chief Financial Officer. The CFO is a key member of Tasmanian Irrigation's (TI) Executive Leadership team, providing strategic financial governance and corporate service leadership to the organisation.

To be successful the CFO, must demonstrate high level conceptual problem solving skills, understanding of financial and commercial frameworks with the ability to analyse information, interpret and provide strategic and operational advice to TI's Leadership Team and Board.

As the CFO, you will provide values-based leadership in all areas of financial governance and corporate support services provision including fiscal performance, critical risk analysis's, compliance functions to regulatory and statutory requirements, auditing frameworks with the ability to implement innovative solutions enabling TI to optimise and streamline business functions.

Knowledge and past experience interacting and negotiating with Local, State and Federal government departments and an ability to navigate bureaucratic process and relationships would be advantageous. They will also be required to work collaboratively and efficiently with other external stakeholders such as contractors, professional service firms and internal stakeholders.

The CFO will be an individual who can balance the strategic and operational aspects of the role, focusing on the longer term imperatives but also an individual who can support and lead corporate service initiatives when required.

As a member of the Executive Leadership team, the CFO requires a heightened level of interpersonal skills along with the ability to prepare complex proposals and documentation for high level executive audiences including the TI Board and Treasury stakeholders.

Ideally this individual will have past experience managing and leading Finance and Corporate Service Teams with a demonstrated history of providing organisational stability and direction through periods of growth and/or change. As a people based infrastructure organisation, the CFO will have a passion for working with people and the ability to engage contemporary management practices to increase performance. This role has five (5) direct reports.

Experience with One Water (technologyone) software or similar packages would also be an advantage.

Ideally this person will have;

  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of similar high level CFO experience
  • Contemporary executive management financial, corporate services and risk management experience
  • Adaptability to determine and implement strategic direction whilst balancing operational implementation responsibilities
  • Water or agribusiness infrastructure background
  • Relevant post-graduate qualification
  • CPA or CA accreditation (not essential)
