Cooktown is situated on the banks of the Endeavour River only 4 hour’s drive from Cairns. Cook Shire administers some 80% of Cape York Peninsula including a variety of Australia’s most pristine reef, grassland and rainforest environments.

Council is looking for a proven, confident and effective leader of people who will build capacity within the Department and provide strong customer service that is responsive to residents, businesses, investors and developers.   Having these qualities, matched with professional experience in the fields of economic, business, tourism and community development, is the ideal candidate Council is looking for to create a well shaped and sustainable future for our Shire.
