This is an exciting opportunity to make a contribution at a senior level to the Victorian public mental health system and to community safety, combining your clinical and leadership skills.

Forensicare is the statutory agency responsible for the provision of adult forensic mental health services across Victoria, including for individuals with a serious mental illness and/or problem behaviours who have offended, or are at risk of offending.

This is a full time ongoing position located at the Community Forensic Mental Health Service in Clifton Hill, 15 minutes from Melbourne's CBD.

About the role:

The Chief Psychologist & Manager of the Problem Behaviour Program (PBP) is a major clinical leadership and management position at Forensicare. It contributes to service planning and development, as well as providing expert consultancy and advice to other agencies and key stakeholders.

Key Duties:

  • Oversee and lead psychological services at the Community Forensic Mental Health Service.
  • Manage the Problem Behaviour Program, which is a specialised and internationally renowned service delivered by a large team of highly skilled multi-disciplinary staff.
  • Contribute at a senior level to organisational strategic planning and service development processes.

Qualification, skills and experience:

The person we are looking for will have -

  • Extensive experience in providing clinical services in forensic mental health or related settings.
  • Experience as a manager of a mental health service including the ability to lead a group of multi-disciplinary staff.
  • Registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • A Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from an APS accredited course or equivalent, OR Doctorate degree in Forensic Psychology from an APS accredited course or equivalent.
  • Proven ability to liaise and communicate effectively with stakeholders including with a range of government agencies and other external bodies.
