Permanent Full time

Band 7 - $88,399.55 - $98,910.50 per annum plus 9.5% statutory superannuation

(Salary based on skills and experience)

We are looking for an experienced Senior Statutory Planner to work as part of our team which consistently achieves efficient planning permit timeframes and receives positive customer feedback. Ideally, you will be experienced in planning, having worked in local government and will hold a tertiary qualification in planning.

In this important and diverse role as Senior Statutory Planner you are responsible for efficiently and effectively carrying out the statutory planning and subdivision functions of Council in accordance with legislative requirements. Preparing submissions to VCAT, representing Council and having an understanding of the various requirements relevant to town planning and subdivision processes are pivotal to this role.

Key to this role will also be the mentoring of more junior planners and providing exceptional customer service with a ‘can do’ attitude.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate how they meet the criteria below:

• Relevant tertiary qualification and previous experience in a similar position.
• Sound organisational skills, ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and customer service skills and an ability to liaise with a broad range of people.
• Ability to negotiate innovative and practical solutions to issues arising from planning permit applications.
• Proven ability to work well in a team environment and mentor more junior staff.
