Wagga Wagga is thriving on all fronts, with the latest Economic Snapshot showing the regional city is the perfect place to invest, work and live.

Data collated by Wagga Wagga City Council shows the foundations of growth are strong – including low cost base for development, growing private and public investment, a skilled workforce, positive business environment, and high levels of innovation and collaboration.

The Economic Snapshot also highlights that Wagga Wagga’s population is forecast to grow by at least 21.53 per cent by 2036, coupled with an increase in registered businesses, affordable housing and prime industrial land at one-tenth of the cost of equivalent blocks in Western Sydney.

Wagga Wagga’s prime location between Sydney and Melbourne and proximity to Canberra is reaping economic benefits, while also making it more attractive to visitors.

Visitor numbers are forecast to increase with a number of major projects in the works such as the Wagga Wagga Multisport Cycling Complex at Pomingalarna Park, the Riverside Stage 2 development and a 43km cycle path network.

As a result of continued economic growth we are seeking qualified and highly skilled Civil Engineers to provide leadership and expertise in the delivery of frontline civil infrastructure programs.

Senior Engineer – Strategy

  • Remuneration package from a minimum of $106,646 gross per annum (inclusive of superannuation) plus applicable Award based allowances

The successful applicant is required to hold tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering and extensive work experience in a large and varied engineering environment with technical knowledge of operations and management of civil infrastructure and a particular emphasis on Traffic Engineering/Modelling and Hydrology.

The position will see you responsible for leading teams that deliver frontline Council Civil Infrastructure programs, which includes road, drainage and sewer services. This will encompass concept development, planning, asset management, technical and maintenance priorities and development of strategic plans and processes.

The successful applicant will have degree qualifications in civil engineering and a minimum of five (5) years' experience within the Civil & Building industry. Specialist expertise in roads, rail, and building assets (social and economic) along with post graduate qualifications in asset, project or business management would be highly desirable.

The Senior Engineer – Maintenance Management will utilise their core technical engineering skills in roads, rail, and building assets (social and economic) to influence an integrated, whole-of-life approach to Infrastructure Service delivery, drawing on perspective across Council Directorates, business partners and the community. The position provides key capability to build confidence in the Council's ability to achieve its stated strategic goals.
