About the City Development Department
This department is part of our Planning, Design & Development Division, and is responsible for the provision of information, advice and assistance regarding municipal building services, planning permits, planning scheme amendments and rezoning.

About the Role
This position coordinates and carries out statutory processes and procedures in relation to subdivision applications for certification of plans and Statement of Compliance, and provides clients with a customer focused, professional and timely advisory service.

This is a permanent part-time position working 44 hours per fortnight.

Some of the key responsibilities in this role will include:

  1. Responsibility for all subdivision applications including lodging for Certification of plans of subdivision and Statement of Compliance in accordance with the Planning and Environment Act 1987, Subdivision Act 1988 and other related Acts.
  2. Coordinating the referral of planning and subdivision applications to relevant internal and external authorities within the required timeframe. 
  3. Organising land valuations for public open space contributions as per permit conditions where required and responsible for the collection and the accurate record keeping of those payments.
  4. Liaising with surveyors and land owners of all outstanding requirements for Certification of plan of subdivision and Statement of Compliance.
  5. Preparing subdivision applications for Certification and Statement of Compliance by making sure that all authorities have consented, permit conditions have been satisfied, works have been completed and all fees/payments have been collected.
  6. Assisting in the collection of developer contributions and securities and ensuring that they are recorded and allocated to the correct accounts.
  7. Liaising with and provide advice/information to senior officers, internal units, external authorities, professionals (such as surveyors, engineers and planners) and land owners on subdivisional matters.
  8. Attending to enquiries from internal departments and the public on subdivisional matters.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  1. A recognised tertiary qualification in Town Planning or a related or a related discipline or significant progress toward completion of a tertiary qualification in planning.
  2. Well-developed analytical, investigative, and problem solving skills.
  3. A thorough understanding of the statutory planning and subdivision process.
  4. Ability to effectively plan, organise and manage own time to achieve targets within a set timetable.
  5. Innovative and the ability to manage change.
  6. Current Victorian Drivers Licence.
