About the Role
In this role you will be working in the Statutory Planning team where you will gain practical work experience while completing your planning qualifications.  You will also be provided the opportunity to service and facilitate the assessment and issue of material for land use and development enquiries and provide a professional and customer focused advisory service.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Learning and contributing to the day to day running of the planning department requirements.
  • Analysing and assisting with planning enquiries and applications to determine compliance with relevant legislation, including VicSmart legislation (or equivalent) applications so they are dealt with in the prescribed time limits.
  • Assisting with the investigation and evaluation of planning applications and related documents within a team environment.
  • Assisting with the coordination of input from internal and various government departments and the general public.
  • Preparing correspondence in relation to Council decisions and enquiries from the public.
  • Providing clients with a professional advisory service and assisting the public with general enquiries.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have

  • Commencement or completion of tertiary qualification in Town Planning/Urban Studies or similar related field 
  • Practical knowledge and ability to interpret Town Planning legislation and practices and associated legislation.
  • Ability to set priorities and plan/organise work allocated.
  • Awareness of current trends and issues affecting town planning.
  • Demonstrated analytical, investigative, interpretative and problem solving skills.
