Policy Advisor, Environment

Total Package circa $88,640 per annum (incl 9.5% super)

WALGA is seeking the services of a committed, experienced environmental professional who is capable of thinking ‘outside the box’ to join its environment team.

This diverse position delivers WALGA’s climate change policy agenda and assists in policy development (in particular climate change) and programs directly related to Local Government in Western Australia.

Responsibilities include:

  • formulating representative policy positions, submissions and responses on environmental issues (with a particular focus on climate change adaptation and mitigation issues);
  • representing the interests of Local Government to other spheres of Government and the environmental sector;
  • convening and contributing to internal and sector working groups on interdisciplinary environmental issues;
  • co-ordinating and delivering projects, events, tools and services that assist and build the capacity of Local Government;
  • providing strong leadership and representation for Local Government; and
  • enhancing the capacity and profile of Local Government.

As the key support person for the Policy Manager, Environment you will need a strong knowledge base on climate change policy and issues, policy/advocacy experience, high level written and oral communication skills, well developed interpersonal and presentation skills.
