The Manager Leisure Services is responsible for driving and managing business improvements in the delivery of services in the pools and beaches, as well as jointly identifying opportunities and partnerships for other related facilities and services. The role is pivotal in linking service delivery with expectations of the community and the elected Council.

As a member of the Senior Leadership team, this role plays an active part in the management of the organisation as a whole. Located within the Service Delivery Cluster, the Manager Leisure Services is responsible for leading and delivering the operations of 6 swim centres, a 7 day professional beach lifeguard service and an operational development team.

Core accountabilities include:

  • Ensure the delivery of quality services through the Councils Swimming Centres, and Beach Lifeguard Patrol Services
  • Ensure adequate information is available to Leisure Services staff for supporting decisions on service planning and delivery
  • Provide leadership, guidance, direction and motivation to staff striving towards continuous improvement and service excellence
  • Continue to foster a proactive Leisure Services team that understands its role in the delivery of Council services to the community and is recognised as an industry leader
  • Assist Council’s Asset Management department in strategic planning for Leisure Assets by providing operational insight, data and service delivery expertise

 

Let’s Describe You

  • Degree qualification and extensive experience in recreation, aquatic leisure or business management in a relevant field
  • Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrated by abilities in consultation, negotiation and influencing skills at all levels and the ability to develop and manage effective relationships with all stakeholders
  • Proven ability to lead a diverse team, manage workloads, and flexibly manage changing priorities
  • Highly developed research, analytical and problem solving skills, particularly in interpreting and developing strategic policy and operational direction
  • Extensive budgeting and financial management experience and skills
