Dunedin is an amazing place to live and work, and if you were to ask anyone living here, they’ll tell you that there’s something indescribably special about our city. It’s small enough to feel like you’re part of a community, but big enough to ensure that there’s always something going on. From the great outdoors to arts, culture and education, Dunedin has so much to offer, so why not come and feel just how special it is?

Are you looking to work in a great wee city, helping to provide essential water services to the community?

The residents of Dunedin, along with visitors to the city, are provided with safe drinking water supplied by six water treatment plants through an intricate water treatment network. These plants ensure quality drinking water for the public which exceeds drinking water standards; and wastewater discharges to the environment comply with consent limits. The people who operate treatment plants and maintain pump stations make an important contribution to the public health of the community in which they work.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with a good attitude to join our 3 Waters team as a Supply Process Scientist, based at one of our water treatment plants. You will need specific experience in the industry and have a genuine interest and commitment to learning about the process of treating drinking water in New Zealand. To thrive in our operational environment, you will enjoy hands-on activity, problem solving and will be comfortable working with technology and our treatment team members.

You will have a scientific or engineering degree as a minimum. You’ll be working closely with the Water Treatment team to collaboratively ensure compliance and develop innovative ways of undertaking operations. To ensure we are providing value to our rate paying customers, you will ensure a technical skillset is combined with an analytical focus to how we operate our treatment plants.

As part of the team, there are career pathways to further development within the industry and also into leadership if appropriate.

Applications close Friday 1 November 2019.
