Position Title: Occupational Health Professional (Registered Nurse)
Reports to: Director of DOS
Position Location: Darwin, Northern Territory
Work Type: casual/part-time for a 3 month probationary period with full time employment thereafter

Primary Objective
Engaging with clients while maintaining an affable environment and conduct the day to day pre-employment medicals and functionals so as to achieve a timely and thorough medical and functional capacity assessment. Provide other services (eg. drug & alcohol tests) within qualifications

Specific Accountabilities

  • Gather a concise medical history
  • Conducting hearing (audiometry) and lung (spirometry) testing
  • Undertake drug & alcohol testing
  • Conduct vital signs and clinical examinations
  • ECG and Venipuncture
  • Astute range of movement assessment

Timely and efficient assessment

A Pre-employment medical is allocated a one-hour timeframe
A Functional Capacity assessment is allocated a onehour timeframe.
Clear hand writing

Maintain equipment and supplies
of materials

Advise the Director when stocks are getting low.
Advise Director if equipment is noted to be due for calibration.

Public relations

Always present in a calm and assertive manner while maintaining timeframes

Punctuality and good
communication

Presenting to work on time; good time management and preparation skills.
Early notification if unable to attend scheduled day of work.

Accuracy and timely reports to
employers. Good computer skills

Ensure paperwork is fully completed. Ensure the reviewing Occupational Physician receives the medical
paperwork following the assessment.
Ensuring the Employer receives their results within 24 to 48 hours.


PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications:
Registered Nurse or Occupational Technician preferably with Occupational Health background.

Preferably audiometry; spirometry and Drug & Alcohol Testing, ECG & Venipuncture qualification.

Proficient in using computers. Word, Excel and Microsoft Outlook programs. Scanning.

Knowledge and experience
The Occupational Health Professional will have previous proven knowledge and skills in conducting pre-employment medical and functional capacity assessment.

  • High level people and communication skills.
  • Work autonomously
  • PC literacy
  • Working knowledge of Work Health & Safety.
  • Knowledge of calibration of equipment and associated records
  • Current Driver’s license for the NT.

  • To learn Australian Codes and Standards relating to DOS industry.

ADMINISTRATION
Take Bookings either by phone or email – must be proficient in use of Microsoft Outlook

  • Scanning documents into PDF files
  • Labelling / writing on forms and any other required material
  • Report writing
  • Check clients identification
  • Print documents for medicals
  • Prepare medical paperwork
  • Emailing
  • Follow up on investigations (blood tests, xrays and other testing)
  • Filing and Shredding
  • Assist with reviewing and typing DOS Policy and procedures
  • Cleaning duties as required (fridge, dishes, vacuum reception only, wipe down reception only)
  • Phone calls to laboratory to pick up specimens
  • Drive to Post Office if required
  • Carry out client feedback surveys
  • Other Public Relation duties such as talking to new clients
  • Invoicing / Statements / Follow up on outstanding invoices
  • Update client Register details
  • Complete billing excel sheet – proficient in use of Excel Spread sheets
  • Maintain records – including calibration of equipment
