As Australia's second largest local government and sixth largest city, with an annual gross regional product growth rate of 4.4%, the City of Gold Coast serves a population of 600,000, expected to grow to 1 million by 2050.

As a member of the executive of the Economy, Planning and Environment directorate, the Manager City Planning leads a team of up to 90 delivering strategic planning and policy development services across Urban and Regional Planning, Infrastructure and Environment.

The Manager City Planning will possess extensive familiarity with land use planning ideally within a complex organisational environment, a future/strategic orientation, and well developed team leadership skills. The successful candidate will also bring a leadership style which encourages fairness, staff development, collaboration and engagement with stakeholders across and beyond Council.

The timing of this appointment provides an opportunity for the City's next growth steps to be re-defined. Within this broader context, the Manager City Planning will make major contributions to Stages 3 and 4 of Gold Coast Light Rail, the City's Infrastructure Plan, Coastal Hazards Plan and ongoing reform of the City Plan.
