The City of Whittlesea Public Realm

The City of Whittlesea public realm includes a sprawling open space system of over 2,000 parks, sports and conservation reserves, waterways, shared path networks, urban and rural streetscapes and town centres. The City is home to a diverse City Forest including Metropolitan Melbourne’s largest portfolio of protected Eucalyptus camaldulensis. Located on the northern edge of metropolitan Melbourne covering an area of approximately 489km2, of which around 70% is rural and 30% being urban. The Urban Growth Boundary separates the well-established and developing suburbs to the south, and designated Green Wedge Land to the north. Across the City there is also a strong recognition of the Wurundjeri connection to culture, with culture being the interconnection of land, water, vegetation, and fire.

About the Role

Join an award winning, fun and professional team as a Senior Landscape Architect and play a key role in managing the delivery of an exciting variety of design and construction-based projects. This is your opportunity to join this high-performing team, responsible for delivery of a substantial and expanding Public Realm Capital Works Program.  In this redefined role you will take the lead on redevelopment of the City of Whittlesea’s Major Community Parks and drive the planning and delivery of Council’s recently developed Town Centres Improvement Plan. Get satisfaction driving end to end projects, building strong relationships and putting your design, analytical and problem-solving skills to good use.

About you

You thrive on finding solutions to challenges and can quickly build rapport with a wide range of stakeholders. You enjoy working independently yet appreciate the value of a collaborative team environment. Selection criteria include:

• Tertiary qualifications in Landscape Architecture or a relevant discipline with relevant professional experience
• Ability to successfully manage projects to quality, time and budget outcomes
• Highly effective interpersonal and presentation skills
• Proficiency with CAD and Adobe Design Suite
• A valid Australian driver’s licence.
