Queensland’s corruption watchdog alleges former Ipswich mayor Paul Pisasale took over $60,000 from charities and community groups.

The 66-year-old Mr Pisasale has faced court this week in his ongoing corruption trial, in which he faces charges of corruption, abuse of office, fraud, perjury, and unlawfully possessing a Viagra pill.

The Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) has accused Mr Pisasale of taking a $10,000 cheque intended for a charity in June 2013.

The CCC also says Mr Pisasale dishonestly acquired $51,292 worth of tools destined for a Men's Shed between November 2016 and June 2017.

The accusations levelled this week include claims that Mr Pisasale “corruptly agreed to receive property”, which former Ipswich council CEO Jim Lindsay had allegedly reduced in by $50,000 for Mr Pisasale.

Additionally, the CCC investigators allege Mr Pisasale pressured an Ipswich council worker to pay businesswoman Kaitlyn Moore in December 2016, thereby abusing his position in office.

Court documents have revealed that Mr Pisasale was charged with lying to a CCC coercive hearing in May, allegedly stating he “never brought any packages from interstate” for Brisbane barrister Sam Di Carlo.

Mr Pisasale resigned as Ipswich mayor, citing health reasons, earlier this year.

The resignation came just as a CCC investigation into an incident wherein Mr Pisasale was detained at Melbourne Airport carrying $50,000 cash began.

The former mayor had little to say outside Brisbane Magistrates Court this week.

“It's a very difficult time, very difficult,” he said.

When asked about his allegedly ailing health, he said: “I'm getting there”.

It is not known how Mr Pisasale will plead to the charges, though he continues to deny any wrongdoing.

The next hearings are set for December 11.
