What is a Principal Strategic Planner for Hume?

Working within the City Strategy team a Principal Strategic Planner leads and supports shaping our city through strategic planning policy and place-based projects. Along with opportunity to reflect and operate on:

  • Preparation of a wide range of complex planning policies across our growth areas, urban renewal areas and rural areas.
  • Collaborate with a range of internal and external stakeholders to develop integrated and place-based solutions to realise lasting community benefits for an appreciative and diverse community.

Why we need you?

The Principal Strategic Planner will be shaping a municipality ready for change by preparing, implementing and reviewing of local planning policies, strategy plans, precinct structure plans, development plans and development/infrastructure contributions plan.

The role offers great opportunity to lead a range of diverse policy and place-based projects.

About You

As a Principal Strategic Planner, you will have demonstrated skills and qualifications including but not limited to:

  • Tertiary qualifications in urban and regional planning or related fields.
  • Substantial senior level experience in the preparation and implementation of high-level strategy plans and planning policies and application of the Victorian Planning Provisions, including planning scheme amendments.
  • Skills and experience in the development of urban design guidance and strategic plans for large scale urban developments such as Structure Plans and Development Plans.
  • Skills in statistical analysis and the use of spreadsheets in the implementation and monitoring of Developer Contributions.
