We are closing our virtual doors.

After much time and consideration, it is with more than a tinge of sadness that due to personal and health reasons, I announce the closure of CareerSpot.

What a wild 14 year ride it has been creating this from scratch and watching it grow.

Our last e-bulletins will be sent on Friday February 7, 2025.  We will not be accepting any further paid advertising via our inbox or through the advertiser upload system. All invoices issued for advertising placed this week will be cancelled (ads will stay live at no charge).

All current and past advertisers will be contacted via email.

The advertiser portal will remain accessible for the immediate future should you wish to download any ad text or account history. The websites will remain live for the immediate future but will not be updated with new content.

I personally want to thank each and every person who has subscribed to the services over the years, who have taken the time to give us feedback and who have helped us develop over the years.

I especially want to thank our advertisers for all your support over the past decade plus. It’s been such a pleasure working with all of you – and for those I personally converse with regularly – thank you for all the smiles and banter and light over the years.

Last, but most certainly not least – the team. I will forever be in debt to the team who have supported and powered this business for the past fourteen years.

First and foremost - Madhuraka - who is and always has been, the IT brains and talent behind the sites and systems. It’s been an immense privilege for me to watch and learn and work with Madhu since the very early days of the CareerSpot concept. A gifted developer and insightful human being, not a single part of what we have done here would have been possible without Madhu. I will always consider it ‘meant to be’’ that our paths crossed almost 15 years ago.

To Tim – the man behind the extraordinary news on CareerSpot – what an absolute delight it has been spending the last decade working with and knowing you. An amazing writer with a gift for words – you are genuinely one of kindest, most intelligent, amusing and conscientious people I’ve ever worked with. For anyone looking for freelance news or feature article writing – Tim’s knowledge across so many different areas of government, research, water, the environment, ICT, engineering, health and more would be an asset to any organisation and I cannot recommend him highly enough. Chris – our guru of database maintenance – thank you! You’ve done an incredible job these last 5 years of keeping our subscription lists clean and accurate and I really appreciate all the time and effort you’ve put into things for us.

To Jack (my Dad) – there’s just no way to thank you for all your love and support throughout the CareerSpot years. Old school Excel legend and self-taught MYOB aficionado, from the very start of this journey you’ve been helping and cheering me on and it would simply have been impossible to do this without you.

To the all those who have worked with us on this journey in some way – Drew, Jeanne, Matt, Peter, Ros, Anthony, Brad, Paul, Gladis, Sara, Jo, Leni, Chaya and Will – each of you have played some part, big or small, in the success of this company.

To my friends who have listened to me vent, who have celebrated the successes and helped me through some of the lowest points, there will never be enough words to adequately thank you for all your love and support.

And finally Emma. Whilst time and circumstances may not see us in each other’s orbits anymore – there will never be a moment when I am not both thankful and grateful for the friendship we shared and the amazing energy we created when we took that leap at Limoncello’s in 2010 – to start GreenCareer.

I thank you all for being part of this incredible journey and wish everyone the very best for the future.
