Major Project Representative, Sleeman Sports Complex

 

The Major Projects Representative (Sleeman Sports Complex projects) position is required to represent SQ’s needs in the $250 million redevelopment of Queensland’s leading high-performance facility together with meeting the event requirements of the Brisbane 2032 Olympics and Paralympics. This role is primarily based in our corporate office in Milton, however as the role is focused on our Sleeman Sports Complex projects, there will be a requirement to attend this venue regularly as per project requirements.

Key tasks include:

  • Lead the client-side development of the Sleeman Masterplan Development, a circa $250 million development required to replace and redevelop facilities that have reached end of useful life, for competition. 
  • Engage closely with the Office of the Queensland Government Architect and the Major Projects Office within the Department of Energy and Public Works (DEPW) and other key stakeholders in the preparation of a Project Brief for the Sleeman Masterplan Development.
  • Prepare and deliver written and verbal reports to senior management, including the SQ Board, Government Ministers and Directors General.
  • Analyse other leading stadium developments in Australia and worldwide to ensure the Sleeman Sport Complex masterplan is at the leading edge of high-performance facilities.
  • Support the overall SQ Capital Program based on workload with the project management of other significant capital works projects at SQ venues, including design, cost, procurement and delivery. 
  • Engage closely with and mentor SQ Facilities Managers involved in project planning, delivery and contract supervision of capital works activities. 

About you 

  • Minimum eight (8) years’ experience managing major construction projects.
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (eg. engineering, architecture, construction or facilities management), or equivalent experience.

SQ is charged with the management of major sports facilities that are declared under Queensland Government regulation as being venues having the capacity to stage national or international sports events, recreational or entertainment experiences. SQ’s portfolio of venues include Suncorp Stadium, The Gabba, Sleeman Sports Complex, Brisbane Entertainment Centre, Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre, Queensland Country Bank Stadium, Cbus Super Stadium, Queensland Tennis Centre and People First Stadium.
