About the Role
Reporting to Program Lead Maintenance, this is a pivotal role within the Service Delivery Team. As the Leading Hand Civil (Coxswain) you will be responsible for: providing field leadership and technical guidance to crews for delivery of civil asset management maintenance and project works on Melbourne Water’s Waterways, Drainage and Land assets.
- Working with and providing in field oversight of crews undertaking various on-ground activities.
- Day to day supervision of team members. Leading by example, mentoring and coaching team members effectively.
- Accountable for meeting specified quality, timeliness, budgetary and compliance requirements.
- Successful delivery of Civil maintenance and project activities across a geographical area of Melbourne Water’s Waterways and Land assets – this includes boat and barge work within Patterson Lakes.
- This role would demand Coxswain experience / accreditation.
- Valid Driver’s Licence as this role requires occasional travel.
- Help to foster a culture of Health, Safety & Wellbeing.
About you:

- You have Grade 3 Coxswain Certification.
- Demonstrated experience and capabilities working with and leading crews in a maintenance environment.
- Great people leadership capabilities, ability to coach and mentor staff.
- Ability to take responsibility for own role in ensuring the safety of all team members and other personnel on site.
- Problem solving skills, including the ability to deliver the appropriate outcomes.
- Sound interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of people both within Melbourne Water, external organisations and with the general public.
- Ability to work and contribute to a team environment to improve processes, respond to various demands and manage multiple activities simultaneously.
- Ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations.

The role is based at South East Regional Office (SERO), Bangholme with travel required to field based sites and assets throughout Melbourne Waters network in the South and East. An operational work vehicle will be used to attend sites.
