The Federal Government has announced it will convene the 4th Australian Council of Local Government in Canberra on 16 June this year.

The council will bring together over 400 local government representatives, Federal Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries under the one roof at Parliament House.

“This meeting continues our ongoing dialogue with local government on ways to improve the delivery of infrastructure and services to local communities,” Minister for Local Government Anthony Albanese said.

“The inclusion of local government in the nation’s Constitution will be at the top of the Council’s agenda.”

This year’s Australian Council of Local Government coincides with the commencement of the annual National General Assembly of Local Government convened by the Australian Local Government Association which will be held from 17-19 June at the National Convention Centre in Canberra.
