The Western Australian Government has tabled a progress report on the Royalties for Regions program for the 2011/12 period.

The report, compiled by the Department of Regional Development and Lands, also details the projects delivered in the 2011-12 financial year.

Mr Grylls said the report showcased all of the Royalties for Regions expenditure from its inception in late 2008.

“The report highlights the breadth of projects under way across the State and the much-needed services transforming regional Western Australia,” he said.

“Royalties for Regions is addressing significant shortfalls in infrastructure and services throughout the State, giving those who live, work or invest in the regions a renewed sense of optimism to plan for the future.”

The Minister said the 2011-12 Royalties for Regions Progress Report highlighted current projects and detailed all Royalties for Regions projects funded during the life of the program to June 2012.

“I acknowledge the work of the Department of Regional Development and Lands; the Western Australian Regional Development Trust; and the Regional Development Council for their independent oversight, advice and implementation of the program and the work of the nine regional development commissions for their leadership at a community level,” he said.

Mr Grylls said the progress report provided West Australians with the opportunity to see how the Royalties for Regions funds were being spent, as well as ensuring appropriate public accountability of the program.
