Located in southwest Queensland, the Murweh Shire covers an area of 43,905km2 with over 5000 people residing across the Shire primarily in the towns of Charleville, Augathella, Morven and Cooladdi. Our employees work across all towns in our Shire and our main administration office is located in Charleville. The town acts as a major commercial and tourism hub for the Shire forming part of a thriving region, with excellent schools, shopping and facilities that support the main industries of grazing, agriculture and tourism.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Work Health and Safety Advisor at Murweh Shire Council in Queensland, Australia. The advisor will be responsible for implementing health and safety policies, conducting risk assessments, providing safety training, and investigating accidents to ensure a safe work environment. The WHS Advisor is also responsible for engaging with managers and Council’s WHS Committee to ensure a proactive, committed approach to workplace safety and risk management across Murweh Shire Council.

Qualifications

  • Health & Safety and Occupational Health skills
  • Accident Investigation expertise
  • Safety Training experience
  • Environment Health and Safety (EHS) knowledge
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Strong experience in a similar role and Local Government position
  • current `C’ Class Driver's licence
  • Construction Safety Induction Card ( White Card)
  • Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised or within a team ensuring that outcomes are achieved.
