Manager Development Assessment

The City of Whittlesea is one of Melbourne's fastest growing and culturally diverse municipalities just 20kms north of the CBD. We're known for our attractive environment, family orientated community, healthy natural lifestyle and strong economic position.

Reporting to the Director Planning & Major Projects, the Manager Development Assessment is responsible for the delivery of Council’s statutory planning services. This is an exciting, challenging role and will require a strong leader who has a professional mindset enabling them to deliver best practice, timely, cost effective customer service for our community. You will be responsible for facilitating quality, sustainable development across the municipality’s diverse regions, ranging from established urban areas, through to urban renewal activity centres, future growth areas, rural and environmentally significant areas.

As the department plays a key role in the assessment and implementation phase of the statutory planning permit process for use, development and subdivision applications, the position will need to ensure that  the team  plays a key co-ordinating role across Council in terms of project management of complex permit applications. An integral part of the role will be active participation in strategic planning and policy development projects, that your statutory planners and planning enforcement team will be responsible for implementing.
