Hawkesbury’s NSW Bike Week events


Have you been hibernating over winter and forgotten all about your bike? With spring in the air now is the time to dust off your wheels and take part in NSW Bike Week.

NSW Bike Week is an annual celebration of cycling, encouraging people from all walks of life to get on a bike and ride. NSW Bike Week will run from Saturday, 13 September until Sunday, 21 September.

Here in the Hawkesbury, planned events will help to get you and your bike ready to enjoy riding along our increasing network of shared paths and get you out in the great outdoors.

The Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Kim Ford is delighted Council is participating in NSW Bike Week.

“All the events Council is hosting for NSW Bike Week are great for the whole family, with all ages able to participate. The free events will help novice riders of all ages improve their cycling skills and ensure they are being safe bike riders,” Councillor Ford said.

 
Two events are being held in the Hawkesbury for NSW Bike Week:

• Bike Drop & Shop at Windsor Mall’s Sunday Market - Sunday, 14 September - 10am to 3pm

Get your bicycle ready for Hawkesbury Bike Week events by attending Council’s free Bike Drop & Shop at the Windsor Mall’s Sunday Market on Sunday, 14 September from 10am to 3pm. Securely leave your bike at Loder House while you browse the market stalls. Receive a free maintenance check or drop in and ask our local Richmond Bicycle technicians your questions.

• Yabba Dabba Cycle Do! - Sunday, 21 September - 10am to 2:30pm

The ‘Yabba Dabba Cycle Do!’ Bike Week event will be held at the Hawkesbury Visitor Information Centre located on Hawkesbury Valley Way, Clarendon (opposite the RAAF Base Richmond).

The day will feature free activities such as cycling lessons for all age groups (including a toddlers and parents workshop) to improve road safety skills; BBQ brontosaurus burgers or stegosaurus sausages cooked by the Rotary Club of Windsor; kids prize wheel and prizes for the best stone-aged caveman costume or for decorating your cycle helmet in a prehistoric theme. There will be a draw for two Bicycle NSW Annual Memberships and two free entries into the Spring Cycle Family Bike Ride.

Yabba Dabba Cycle Do! also coincides with the Sydney Antique Machinery Club’s Clarendon Classic Rally and the special operating Lachlan Valley Railway Steam Trains.
